Craggy Gardens, located along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, is well known for it's rocky summit and summer rhododendron blooms. At 5,892' of elevation, this peak is often exposed to many harsh weather conditions throughout the year. The trees must survive through cold winters and high winds, leaving them gnarled and mishapen. Despite the conditions, they continue to thrive as displayed by this lone sweet birch tree that has become a beautiful sight for passing hikers on their way to the summit.
